Mini-Golf Tournament

7th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament  raises funds for new program year

With a “cruising” theme, Power 4 Youth hosted their seventh-annual fundraising mini-golf tournament at Boomers Fountain Valley on Monday, September 25.  Attendees played 17 holes plus a hole-in-one challenge to win prizes and awards.  Attendees also had the chance to purchase raffle tickets for prizes as well as participate in a silent auction of various prizes.

The annual tournament was started by the board of directors as a signature event in recognition of the youth they serve. This year featured an increase in support from throughout the community.  “We are very excited about our sponsors for this year, including Keesal, Young & Logan and Warren Lortie,” said Val Parker, Power 4 Youth Executive Director.

Run like a “real” golf tournament, the event attracts participants that don’t play golf, as well as serious golfers, who use the occasion to practice their putting. “At first people were skeptical, but we have groups return year after year, with some small companies using it as a team building event,” Parker said.  Dinner followed the tournament where raffle and silent auction winners were announced, along with prizes ranging from lowest score to most spirited team.

Power 4 Youth’s next mini golf event will be held on Monday, September 24 next year.

“Surf’s Up” theme of 6th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament

Power 4 Youth’s 6th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament successfully raised funds to support the mentoring program for the 2016-17 program year.

“The tournament’s success helps Power 4 Youth serve more youth through its mentoring program. We are excited by the enthusiasm for this event, which we believe stays true to the spirit of the youth, yet with a ‘grown-up’ flair,” explains Val Parker, Executive Director. “Players won some great prizes and silent auction items…but it’s the fun that everyone remembers.”

Power 4 Youth especially thanks the event sponsors:  City National Bank, Keesal, Young & Logan, Union Bank and Warren Lortie.

5th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament a wild success!

2015’s safari themed mini-golf tournament proved to be a successful event, raising funds for the new program year.  Power 4 Youth supporters again enjoyed an afternoon of mini-golf, food and prizes on Monday, September 28, 2015 at its 5th Annual Mini-Golf Tournament at Boomers Fountain Valley. Power 4 Youth especially thanks Consecutive Thoughts, Envent Corporation, the Nottingham Group, Union Bank, and Warren Lortie for underwriting the cost of the tournament as major sponsors. Thank you, also, to all the local businesses and individuals who supported the event through participation and donations. With this support, Power 4 Youth will be able to continue to match more students with mentors, making a greater impact upon the community.
